Nuclear weapons are unendingly controversial, and related debate is usually dominated by political, military, and moral arguments. There is, however, an economic dimension to the issue at hand: What is the cost of it all, and what are the most important components of that cost? Building and paying for the bomb is one thing, of course; financing the various implications of a full-fledged nuclear arsenal (from operational forces through health related issues down to environmental management and waste disposal) is quite another. Reliable numbers are hard to obtain, but mind-boggling at any rate.
