When researching the connection between war and health and the consequences of war on health there are a lot of hypotheses, that are either hard to prove, or considered self-evident. Such as: war is a disease or war is good for medicine. It is important for the science of war and medicine that such hypotheses are  challenged  and that the definitions are clear. If war is  like a  disease, what do we mean with the word 'disease'? If war is good for medicine, what is 'war', 'good', 'medicine'?
