Viviana Uriona is political scientist and media activist. She was born in Argentina and has been living in Germany for 15 years. She studied political science, philosophy and Ibero / Latin American History at the University of Cologne and the Free University in Berlin. Currently she is doing her PhD at the University of Potsdam in media studies on "Social movements and free radio in Latin America in the instance of Argentina", with a scholarship from the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. She has produced numerous publications on social movements in Latin America and Germany, youth movement, Solidarity Economy and alternative news reporting. In addition, Uriona is active in the free radio scene in Germany and transnational projects, and until October 2008, she was a member of the Coordinating Board of ATTAC-Germany.
