Dnieprodzerzhinsk has been involved in the process of nuclear-fuel cycle. About 43 million tons of radioactive waste which had been accumulated in the course of uranium production were buried in the city's vicinity, their total radioactivity being 75,000 Curie. 70% of the Dnieprodzerzinsk inhabitants had signs of blood synthesis system depression (decrease in Pancytopoesis).
